It’s always full. That’s the best way to describe your plate if you are a solopreneur, or an entrepreneur of any stripe.
So it can be a huge bug up your backside when someone calls or emails you asking for a few minutes of your time. If they want to interview you for some media outlet, it’s even worse. The media monsters crawl out from under your bed, chewing into time that could be spent on your business, or possibly throwing who-knows-what at you to make you look stupid.
Yes, I have a dog in this fight, because I often contact people for media interviews. However, there are good reasons to gnash your teeth and say Yes. One: free publicity! Aren’t you trying to find ways to bring in more dollars? Publicity is a huge help.
I’ve got other reasons. I get an opportunity to share them this Thursday at the WBIS Monthly Luncheon in Fairfax. Join me and other Women Building & Investing in Success (WBIS) members for a lively exploration of ways to turn the media yuck factor into yes.
